Petting Zoo Knit AND Crochet Patterns

First off, this post is very picture heavy!  That's because I have been super busy designing and writing knitting AND crochet patterns for my Petting Zoo.  If that weren't enough, I even designed little houses for them.  More on that in a moment.

Petting Zoo is a set of three patterns in one bundle for $5.00.  The goal was to design a toy, set of three, knit or crocheted in one piece.  All three must have the same body, for the advanced knitter/crocheter or better.  Use worsted weight scrap yarn and make the set in a weekend.

I love how they turned out and had so much fun designing this squishy trio!

Love the "paws"!

Simple collar....

and face.

Not too big and not too small.

Here is how the knitting pattern listing reads:

Squishy trio of pet animals ready for loads of hugs and love.

Super easy and perfect for the advanced beginner or better knitter. If you have knit a hat in the round, you can master this! The head and body are knit in one piece and the ears are worked separately and sewn on.

I've also included YouTube links that show you how to cast on a small number of stitches AND a link on how to embroider the faces!

Great way to use up your worsted weight scrap yarn. All you need is 5 yards (7grams) for the head and body. Some black or brown yarn for the face and “paws”, fiber fill for stuffing and you’re done.

Lion Brand Heartland was used for all three, but you can use any worsted weight yarn you have. Needle US size 6 dpns (you need 4 of them).

You get all three patterns (dog, kitty and bunny) so you can make one or all three!

Perfect baby shower gift. You can knit one in about an hour or so.

I would suggest washing just like any stuffed toy...in a pillowcase, tumble dry.

And if that weren't enough, I designed little "houses" for them!

Dog House, Cat House and Rabbit Hole.

Easy I-cord handle for toting around.

Matching ears and collar.

My thought here was a dirt hole with a grassy top.  Little carrot charms on the ends of the I-cord.

The houses are a separate purchase, sold as a set....all 3 houses for $5.00.  This is how the listing reads for the houses:

If you have my Petting Zoo Pattern, here are some delightful "houses" for them! I would rate this as a very confident, advanced beginner and easy for the intermediate knitter.

You get all three "house" patterns (Dog House, Cat House and Rabbit Hole) so you can make one or all three!

Not just for toting my Petting Zoo buddies, kids can carry whatever they like in them. Cars, legos, crayons and paper, action figures or even a store bought little stuffed toy.

Perfect baby shower gift.

Yarn for all three patterns:
I used Lion Brand Heartland medium (4) worsted weight; 5oz/142g; 251 yds/230m; 100% acrylic

You can use whatever worsted weight (4) yarn you have in your stash.

Needles for all three patterns:
US 6 16” circular
US 6 double points (4 of them)

DOG HOUSE:
Tuck your pup in his own, cozy dog house where he’ll be safe and warm!
Knit from the top down with an I-cord handle for easy tote ability or sharing a nap.
Measurements: 7.5” H x 6.5” in diameter

CAT HOUSE:
Tote your kitty is his or her very own cat house!
Knit from the top down with an I-cord handle, to match the collar, and ears on top of the garter stitch border.
Measurements: 8.5” (21.59cm) from the cast on edge x 6.5” (16.51cm)in diameter.

RABBIT HOLE:
Tuck your bunny in their own, cozy rabbit hole. Brown “dirt” with green “grass” and little carrot charms on the I-cord ties.
Measurements: 8” H x 6.5” in diameter

As I know most knitters can crochet, not all crocheters can knit.  Keeping this in mind, I've added a crocheted version of my knitting pattern!

Same squishy goodness in a crochet pattern!
